How to Create Your Own Doctor Nicknames
In good times and bad times, doctors are always there for us. Often, their personality and bedside manner can have just as big of an impact on their patients as the healthcare they provide.
Be sure to use these helpful tips when creating your own nickname for a doctor who’s made a difference in your life:
- Use their medical specialty for inspiration. Many medical professionals have an area they specialize in, such as the human heart or even animals. Even if they’re a family physician, this can serve as inspiration for a nickname. For example, a pediatrician might receive a name related to a toy or cartoon, while a pun about hearing or smells would work better for an ENT, such as “Buzz Light Ear” (a play on Buzz Lightyear).
- What makes them stand out? Whether it’s their unceasingly good nature or the patience with which they listen and answer every concern, use the thing that makes your doctor special to help create a nickname like “The Joker” or “Care Bear.”
- Combine their initials. Even if their initials don’t spell anything in order, you could rearrange the doctor’s initials to create a word or use the sounds to generate their nickname. For example, a doctor named Alex Christopher Ellsworth could be called “Ace” for short, or if their name is Wendy Leah Johnson, their initials could be scrambled to create “JWL,” pronounced “Jewel.”
